"It is not necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice. There are two other possibilities: one is paper work, and the other is nostalgia." |

Frank's response: "Anyone who finds the idea of newts in a nightclub disturbing is potentially dangerous." |

"I write the music I like. If other people like it, fine, they can go buy the albums. And if they don't like it, there's always Michael Jackson for them to listen to." |

So the Family acquiesced and little Ahmet informs his teachers that he would be going by "Rick" in the future.
A few weeks later, Frank noticed that they were calling them Ahmet again.
So he asked why? And Dweezil (who was 5 years older) interjected:
"Well when he changed his name, they just went from calling him Ahmet-Vomit to Rick-The-Dick."
Hoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Crystaldish | Apr 11, 2007 12:46pm | | The quote that has stuck in my mind is an obscure enigmatic one; "Everything is happening all the time". It may refer to Einstein's theory of relativity where past and future depend on your point of reference. It also helps explain Zappa's idea of "conceptual continuity" meaning all his work can be considered as one piece of art with the same type of social commentary running through it. Music doesn't really have a beginning or an end anyway does it? Your favourite Zappa track is just there and you can listen to it any time you choose. |
